Overview

The ninth day of Mount Dzuhl-hijjah is of great importance to Allah, its blessings (Baraka) are spread throughout the earth. On this day, pilgrims stand on Mount Arafat and pray the Duhr and Asr prayers combined and shortened, as the Prophet ﷺ did in the Namira Mosque. This mosque was built in the Abbasite period in year 1164 (559 Hujri). The location of Namira Mosque corresponds to the place where the Prophet ﷺ delivered the important speech (farewell lecture). Part of this mosque is located in the valley of Urana. The Prophet ﷺ instructed the people to leave the valley of Urana because it does not belong to Arafat; He said that except for the valley of Urana, one can stand anywhere on Mount Arafat[1]. Standing is allowed inside the mosque as well as outside[2]. The mosque has been enlarged to an area of 110,000 m2 and can now accommodate 350,000 worshippers. It has six minarets, three domes, ten doors and a screen with an area of 8,000 m2.
