Explanation of terms

Al-Umrah means "The Visit". Yet, in Islamic law the term refers only to the short pilgrimage that Muslims make to Makkah to perform certain religious rites. In accordance with the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

Performing the great pilgrimage (Hajj) once in a person's lifetime becomes obligatory for the individual if the following are met. These apply accordingly to the Umrah.
