Overview

The following paragraphs will discuss why this structure won worldwide awards. Firstly, it is a bridge on which the largest gathering of people in the world takes place. Due to the very strong concrete structure, the bridge can carry more than five million people. Secondly, the Jamarat Bridge is the place from where the stones are thrown to all three pillars (Jamarat). It was built in 1974 and is located within the village of Mina. Various renovations were made to this bridge to carry the increasing number of people. The bridge has four levels, eleven entrances and twelve exits, each with a length of 950 meters and a width of 80 meters. It also has a helicopter pier.
