Overview

Al Jum'ah Mosque is located at the place where the Messenger of Allas ﷺ performed the first Friday prayer in Madina. During his journey from Makkah to Medina, the Prophet ﷺ stayed in Quba for four days (the twelfth of Rabi'al-Awwal in the first year of Hijrah) and then continued his way to Medina. He was in Wadi Al-Ranun'a in Bani Salem on Friday and prayed the first Friday prayer.

The mosque is located southwest of Medina, 2300 meters from the Holy Mosque and 900 meters from the Quba Mosque. It was built in the first year of Hijri (corresponding to 622 A.D.), demolished and rebuilt several times; most recently in 1412 Hijri, when it reached an area of 700 m2. It can accommodate 650 worshippers, has a minaret and two domes.
